PostHeaderIcon Can someone help me find a copywriter who will write what I want to be written?

…and who will allow me to have the copyrights.

There are many, but not all are very co-operative. I have found one website where writers are very co-operative and listen. They also provide you with a draft and change portions that you may want edited. Here’s the link- http://www.freelancewritingdesk.com.

PostHeaderIcon how do you become a copywriter?

I would like to know what qualifications are required from people within the business. I am thinking of a change of career.

There are no set entry qualifications for becoming a copywriter, but advertising is a very competitive industry and most employers will expect you to be qualified to degree level or equivalent.
You may have an advantage if you take a course that includes copywriting, such as:
* a foundation degree, BTEC HND or degree in advertising
* Communication, Advertising and Marketing Education Foundation (CAM) Diploma in Marketing Communications

Other useful subjects include journalism, English, media studies and marketing. You should check entry requirements with colleges and universities.

When you are looking for jobs, you will need a portfolio of work (often known as a ‘book’) to show to potential employers, as you are employed on the strength of the creativity and writing ability shown in your portfolio. You will find it useful to have experience of writing in different styles.
It can be a good idea to team up with a would-be art director and work together on campaign ideas for your portfolio. D&AD runs advertising workshops to help people build a portfolio and make contacts in the advertising industry (see the D&AD website for more details).

Most people get their first job as a ‘creative’ as a result of work experience and placements in advertising agencies. Some advertising copywriters start by getting experience in direct marketing and business-to-business (B2B) marketing companies.
See the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) website for a list of member agencies that offer work experience.

PostHeaderIcon copywriting songs & lyrics?

My wife & i write song lyrics & we have them copywritten .I wrote the music for one of them & made the chorus shorter..do we need to copywrite the revised version also?

The answer above is a little off. Basically, a song is copyrighted the moment you create it, as is any revision. The key is protecting the copyright. You can register songs individually with the US Govt. (I’ll edit when I find the link) but that can get expensive. More common is for songwriters to put together a collection of 10 or 20 of their songs and copyright them as a collection. It’s then up to the songwriter to keep track of what songs are in what collection, but it’s more economical that way. I’ll be back with the link…

By all means. Wisdom and creativity are not monopoly of any one.

PostHeaderIcon writing vs. copywriting– what’s the difference? –>resume help?

I’m trying to revamp my resume. On one position I have listed "writing for the web" and "writing for print."

One of my peers suggested I call it copywriting if I were to send it to a marketing/advertising company. Why should I do that?

What is copywriting and how does it differ from "writing?"

Writing is the widest definition, you could be writing anything, a story, filling a form, a shopping list, an email to a friend etc.

Copywriting however is specific to writing the words that promote a person, business, opinion, or idea. It may be used as plain text, as a radio or television advert.

This is why you’d put that if sending to an ad or marketing agency as that’s a big part of what they do and therefore they want people who are skilled at promotional writing as opposed to just being able to write well.

You’ll probably want to mix in some creative copywriting type wording as well if that is relevant to the type of work your target agency does.

PostHeaderIcon Do I have talent in copywriting?

How one can realize whether he has talent in copywriting or not?

You will know, people will notice. My advice to you is to practice and practice more. One book you should not read, but memorize is Hypnotic Writing by Joe Vitale. The more you write the better you will get.

Good Luck

PostHeaderIcon Does anybody know where I can attend a financial management course and a copywriting course here in Singapore?

Hi, do you know any reliable institution or organization that I can register for the above-mentioned courses and how much is the estimated fee? Thanks a lot for your information.

Hi, I have a 2 option answer, the options depends on what are you trying to achieve. The questions you have to answer yourself are:
1. Are you preparing yourself to work for some big company?
2. Are you preparing yourself to add more paper qualifications proof to your portfolio?

If you answer Yes to both questions then you need a to locate an academic institution and some that come to mind for your consideration would be:
a. SMU - Singapore Management University
b. SIMU - Singapore Institute of Management University
d. and a variety of private Business Schools

If you answer No to both questions then I would assume that you are trying to learn to be street smart and probably run a business of your own. Then you will need to contact one and only one place: Messrs Success Resources Pte Ltd. I don’t think it is right for me to list web site addresses here, else it would be like I am advertising for them. They have currently 1 program that would fit your needs - Guerilla Business Intensive. Believe me the course is INTENSE - be prepare to pay and be blown away - Financial Management and Copyrighting are key topics.

PostHeaderIcon How do I burn data to a cd using window media? I have windows XP Home. The data is not copywriter.?

The data came off the web.

CD Burner XP will do this for you as far as I know. If you create a data CD, this will burn the original files straight onto the disc.

If you create an audio CD, CDBXP will convert them and burn it as an audio CD that can (when finalised) play in any CD player.
