PostHeaderIcon Freelance Writing in Malaysia?

How would a newcomer in this field first start off, and what should he or she do on later stages to "move up the ladder"? What about copywriting, how would they go about approaching the right people to do this sort of writing? Are marketing and public research skills needed to do this? Or personally, what are your thoughts about freelance writing?

Think about what you like and what you know about. Are there any magazines on the suject or that deal with the subject. Now write an article on the subject.

Then re-write it because the first time is always pants. When you have something you think is readable, and the right number of words. Does it need photo’s to go with it, if so take some decent ones, they may not be used but it will help sell the article.

Have a look in the magazine and contact the company, ask them if they would like to see your work.

Also look online, what is there online, do you have a blog, do people like what you write in the blog.
This all helps sell your material.

If you want to do copyrighting, get in touch with the ad agencies, find out who their clients are, write something you think would look good in print.

There is a book in England called the ‘Freelance Writer’s Handbook’

http://www.andrewcrofts.com/Help.html

The principles he uses are applicable to most countries, and I can recommend it as one of the best ‘how to books ever’

PostHeaderIcon I’m a freelance copwriter among other things and I want to know how do I get the initial meeting?

I’m 25 and in between working part time doing fall cleanup/snow shoveling, and copywriting all to pay for my expenses (rent, books, food) while I go to grad school. I really enjoy writing copy because it allows me to be creative. I haven’t been able to get the initial appointment with those potential clients. I email and cold call, but really to no avail. At this time of year are there potential clients who would be more apt to use my service? How do I get their business, or at least an appointment.

You will have to catch their attention and show them how they will benefit by your work

PostHeaderIcon Virtual Assistant or Copywriter?

I am interested in becoming a freelance Virtual Assistance or copywriter. I am a corporate communications professional with years of PR, Marketing and copywriting experience including creating SEO friendly content for the Web. Does anyone know where I could find sources of work/projects without spending $$$? Does anyone out there need these services at reasonable rates?

Hi,

Off the top of my head:

http://www.elance.com
http://www.contractedwork.com

There are more - search for "freelance sites" or similar.

While you’re waiting though - have you thought of contacting some smaller businesses and offering your services for free in exchange for testimonials? (Much of the work you’ve done while employed may be difficult to prove as yours …)

It could be small jobs that wouldn’t take too long - and you end up with some examples (before - after) and feedback that your prospective clients can see? (and coach your freebie clients to get the right sort of testimonial) …

Also, have you got your own website up yet?

Hope this helps,

PostHeaderIcon I am a SEO content writer. I wish to make my career as freelance ad copywriter. How can i go about it?

I am a freelance content writer with an expertise of over four years in writing web content of all the types. I wish to start a career as a freelance ad copywriter. How can I go about it? Where can I get copywriting jobs for advertisements? I am speciallty interested in punchline/tagline writing. How can I get a freelance punchline or script writing job?

I trust your familier with the freelance bid sites: elance.com, odesk.com, allfreelance.com, getafreelancer.com and project4hire.com

Looks like the price competition can be a killer on those sites, it’s better to market yourself, becoming an established name, with your own site, ultimately so people come to you with projects, you might use product marketing tactics like giving away a report to email opt ins who you can continue to provide free teaser information.

There’s a course by an Irishman "Freelance Article Writing Secrets" that was a WSO I believe now off the market, He described methods to build a business producing revenues far beyond an hourly rate.

PostHeaderIcon I am a freelance web-designer, should i ask my client to provide me copywriting material?

I am a freelance .net developer, and web designer, although i have significant experience in dealing with .net clients i however am only starting to build professional websites for clients.

I want to ask what precisely the web designer is responsible for doing and what not and should be asked from client.

For eg the written content on the website,
* is it the job of client to provide material to web designer
*or web designer should get raw material from client and write itself
*or simply do the entire copy-writing himself ?

Please help me out, and it would be very helpful if someone can provide clear cut boundary as to what a web designer should be doing and what not.

That’s why called a service, service is there or not there. Copy write is always there. Not selling your braintrust research, or a flower, or some thing else.

PostHeaderIcon Dan Kennedy - Review

Dan Kennedy is another of those internet marketing gurus who has succeeded with a system that is promoted with the idea of being simple enough for anyone to use no matter the size or type of their business, their skills or experience, or their lack of either. He has produced “The copywriting Seminar In-A-Box” to help you create “killer” copy for your ads, sales letters, and brochures regardless of your type of business. His proposed “Magnetic Marketing System” is in its ninth annual edition and boasts of having helped users to find success within hundreds of different business categories.

You can view Dan Kennedy’s seminars and power point presentations on DVD or on a fully searchable CD-ROM. Although he does still give seminars that you can attend live, this allows you to listen to his business strategy right in your living room. Dubbed “The Millionaire Maker”, Kennedy is known for his no-nonsense approach to business that many consider to be refreshing.

Dan Kennedy has developed a system of direct-response advertising which he claims will eliminate the need for you to use telephone calls to try to set up appointments with those who may or may not be interested in your product. Direct-response advertising allows you to generate a response from those who already need your product. He points out that there is a need to build a business with baby steps. Make a free report of good quality to show target customers. When you have a certain part of that report that gets the most attention, and then follow up with a report that focuses only on that point. Build up to the main attraction.

Another point that Dan Kennedy stresses is that most businessmen try to play up their strengths while hoping their weaknesses don’t get noticed. They always do, claims Kennedy, so why not go ahead and point out all your weakest areas along with the best possible responses you can use for each one. This gives you the advantage of honesty and of trying to find the solution for any possible problem area.

Dan Kennedy is one of many internet marketers today. He is a freelance copywriter that many people think of as the best there is but it is difficult to think of his “strategies” for success as anything more than common sense business advice. While he is one of the highest paid, as well as most in-demand marketing consultants working in America and a best selling author of six books who has written numerous how-to courses to help businesses succeed, it is difficult to find the content in his work that will make you rich by using it. He also sells his courses for exorbitant prices that not every new businessman can afford as an initial investment in an internet marketing business.

Some of the complaints against Dan Kennedy include that he focuses his marketing more towards offline businesses than online, which is steadily gaining popularity. Another is the price he charges for some of his back-end courses. Some of these are as much as $3,000 or more.

PostHeaderIcon General Information of Article Marketing!

Some webmasters try to use articles marketing from free content directories to get visitors to their site and make some money. This is mostly important for those who have just begun working as an affiliate for several companies and do not yet have any funding, yet need to built small niche websites to visitors to their site so that they can begin making revenue.

When you start your search, you may want to begin with a very small group of articles, just in case you happen too hook up with a writer that you are less than thrilled with. It is important to keep in mind that there are several different types of writing and each writer might be highly skilled in one area, yet lack in another. For example, there is creative/fiction writing, biographical writing, news writing, general informational article writing, critical writing, for more details visit to www.perfect-ghostwriter.com copy-writing, poem/verse writing, technical writing, medical writing, essay/report writing, and sports writing. Although a writer may be highly skilled in one area, many freelance writers spread themselves out into others areas as well. So, it is critical that the writer you choose can produce the type of content that you need.

Let’s take a real life example. Imagine that you are an accountant working from home. You write an article on an accounting topic and place it on various article directories. Those who are looking for the subject you wrote about will read your article, see that you have the knowledge and skill that is needed to do a job for them, for more details visit to www.ezines-success.com and visit your website or contact you via e-mail. Your article just gained you a new client who may use your services regularly, but will definitely give you a nice profit at least once.

Problem #2 - Getting visitors to click Although getting your site high on search engine result pages and acquiring site visitors is hard work, unfortunately this is only half of the battle. You must also be able to convince those visitors to click on your affiliate links. If your visitors see the same content they have seen on a multitude of other sites, they will be least likely to click on your links. This is because most people want to buy things that are recommended by people that they trust or whom they feel like are an expert on the subject. If your content is just duplicated from other sites, you will be exposed as someone who does not really know what they are talking about and therefore will not look heavily on your product recommendations. This will reduce the number of website visitors who will be willing to click through.

There are numerous article directories out there for you to utilize. Your bet best is to put a copy of each of your articles on every one for maximum exposure. It will eventually help to bring more traffic and customers to your website, which will lead to new orders and more profit.
