Easy way to get on Google’s first page?

To get on Google’s first page for my search term, is this all I have to do:

1. find out how many times my competitors have used my search term, and outnumber them.
2. find out how many inbound links my competitors have from influential sites, and try to match that by purchasing links.

Of course, there are on-site things I must have in place. The tags, the copywriting, etc. But if I do these well, can I do #1 and #2 above and get on the 1st page of Google?

Also, which SEO service is best for analyzing my competitors’ keywords & back links?

Maintaining a place on 1st three pages on famous search engines is not an easy job; you have to make continuous efforts. Try to focus on a single keyword (related to your niche) i.e. searched mostly by the people, and then make your SEO strategy in accordance with that keyword.

1. Your headline is like the first page of a book - it has to grab attention
2. Your 2nd Para should explain exactly what it is your trying to communicate (if need be the reader should not have to read any more to understand what it is all about)
3. The language and tone you use should be tailored according to your potential reader

Freelance Writing in Malaysia?

How would a newcomer in this field first start off, and what should he or she do on later stages to "move up the ladder"? What about copywriting, how would they go about approaching the right people to do this sort of writing? Are marketing and public research skills needed to do this? Or personally, what are your thoughts about freelance writing?

Think about what you like and what you know about. Are there any magazines on the suject or that deal with the subject. Now write an article on the subject.

Then re-write it because the first time is always pants. When you have something you think is readable, and the right number of words. Does it need photo’s to go with it, if so take some decent ones, they may not be used but it will help sell the article.

Have a look in the magazine and contact the company, ask them if they would like to see your work.

Also look online, what is there online, do you have a blog, do people like what you write in the blog.
This all helps sell your material.

If you want to do copyrighting, get in touch with the ad agencies, find out who their clients are, write something you think would look good in print.

Is there a way to protect art without copywrite?

I am an artist, I’m still in college, and I want to gather my portfolio of artwork to show potential employers and also to sell pieces of art.

How do I know my art is protected? Can’t they just steal my 2d digital art when I send it to them as a portfolio and use it however they want if it isn’t copywrited? Also, if I freelance online, and have a portfolio- couldn’t other freelancers save my art to their computer and use it in their own portfolios or sell it pretending its theirs?

As you know, art isn’t usually a high-paying field. I have many pieces of art to put in my portfolio & sell, & even if I used LegalZoom to copywrite, I’d still have to pay thousands of dollars that I can’t afford just to get my work copywrited.

Is their a way to protect my rights to my artwork without copywriting?

The moment you create a work of art, whether it’s signed or not, the copyright is yours; you own it and even selling the piece does NOT transfer the copyright. When you sign a work and put the copyright mark (a c inside a circle) on it that is considered legal public notification that you have created the work and you own it and the right to reproduce it. You can register the work with the government but it’s not that terribly expensive (you can go online for the forms). If you’re going to put work on the internet for display put a watermark on it either by using watermark software or adding your name over the piece using photoshop. It is true that some unscrulpulous people feel the internet is a free-for-all smorsgasbord to help yourself to artwork; stuff like this has been happening in the art world even before the internet was around. The risk is yours to take but these are the best measures at present to cover yourself. Especially difficult is persuing infringements in countries where the governments don’t enforce the laws or look the other way or don’t care.

I’m a freelance copwriter among other things and I want to know how do I get the initial meeting?

I’m 25 and in between working part time doing fall cleanup/snow shoveling, and copywriting all to pay for my expenses (rent, books, food) while I go to grad school. I really enjoy writing copy because it allows me to be creative. I haven’t been able to get the initial appointment with those potential clients. I email and cold call, but really to no avail. At this time of year are there potential clients who would be more apt to use my service? How do I get their business, or at least an appointment.

What is the difference between a writer and a copywriter?

I think they deal with same task: writing, but once in a job advertisement I noticed that the company looked for both a writer and a copywriter, so it means they are diffrent.

writer is the author of the piece. They do the research, write it, revise, edit.

A copywriter, writes the copy for the book. Copy is industry lingo for advertising. So a copywriter writes some blurbs, writes pitches to book stores, works with people in production on posters. They might also write press releases to be sent out to reviewers (the people that rate the books in magazines)

If you copy and paste info about a company and use it on ebay to sell a product is that copywriting? Illegal?

It’s not illegal to post publicly available information about a company.

But, it’s more than likely illegal to post as if you represent the company.

Career crossroads - I need advise!?

I’m a Graphic Designer. I need to decide my next move:
- Get an Art degree and specialize in 3D animation
- Start my own Graphic Design online ordering website
- Study copywriting and/or Advertising/Marketing
- Study Webdesign….

I’m keeping this short. I just don’t have a clue which of the above is gonna be most logical; and beneficial. I do need to choose one as I need to increase my income.
Thanks Ketty - just want to add - I do have a diploma in Multimedia already - so I am qualified enough to do the online thing. I still think a degree is better…

Then it is yours. State Copyright 2010 (your name). There is no provision in UK copyright law for anything further, unlike in the US where a person MAY choose to register the work.
